Sewage clamp on flow meter

In response to the customer's demand for sewage external clamp flow meters, combined with their technical parameters and the compatibility of recommended products, the following is an optimized selection analysis and suggestions to help customers clarify technical details and promote project implementation:
 
1、 Comparison between customer needs and recommended product parameters
Requirement item: Customer requires wall mounted ultrasonic flowmeter (recommended model) compatibility analysis
Measurement of homogeneous liquid pollutants such as water, seawater, and sewage with impurities ≤ 5%. Regular cleaning of seawater pipelines is required to confirm the actual impurity content of sewage. If it exceeds 5%, filters should be installed or pollution resistant sensors should be selected
Temperature range -30 ℃~150 ℃ (some models -40 ℃~160 ℃) Short term temperature range of 150~160 ℃, long-term temperature range of 120~130 ℃, fully covering customer needs. High temperature models meet extreme working conditions
Measurement accuracy ± 1.0%, linearity better than 0.5%, repeatability accuracy better than 0.2%, measurement accuracy better than customer requirements, can provide higher reliability

Impurity content in sewage
The customer needs to provide actual impurity composition and content data of the sewage. If impurities exceed 5% (such as suspended solids, fibers, etc.), they may affect the propagation of ultrasonic signals and lead to measurement errors. Suggestion:
Install a pre filter (aperture ≤ 1mm);
Choose pollution resistant sensors (such as wide beam sensors);
Regularly clean the surface of the sensor (especially to prevent biological attachment during seawater measurement).
Large pipe diameter measurement scheme
The recommended model standard pipe diameter range is DN15~DN1000. If the customer needs to measure pipe diameters above DN1000 (such as DN2000~DN6000), the following solutions can be provided:
Multi channel ultrasonic flowmeter: improving the measurement accuracy of large pipe diameters by increasing the number of channels;
Insertion sensor: suitable for large-diameter pipelines, requiring local openings but easy installation;
Customized external clamp sensor: Confirmation of pipeline material and wall thickness may increase costs.
Risk of flow rate exceeding the limit
The customer requires a flow rate range of 0~± 32m/s, and the recommended model supports 0~± 30m/s. If the actual flow velocity frequently approaches 32m/s, it may trigger the sensor protection mechanism. Suggestion:
Confirm the maximum flow rate value in the process flow;
If it exceeds the limit, choose a higher range sensor or adjust the pipeline design (such as adding a buffer device).
 
 
3、 Product advantages and comparison with competitors
Advantages of non-contact measurement
Ultrasonic flow meters measure through external clamp type sensors, without the need to shut down or cut pipelines, and have lower installation costs (compared to electromagnetic flow meters that require pipe cutting installation).
No pressure loss design, suitable for liquids containing particles or corrosive substances (compared to turbine flow meters that are prone to wear).
Material and Durability
The sensor material is stainless steel 304, suitable for seawater and general sewage environments. If customers require higher corrosion resistance (such as 316 stainless steel or copper), they need to customize or choose other models (such as electromagnetic flow meters).
The protection level of the host is IP65, and it is necessary to avoid long-term immersion in water or extreme humid environments.
 
Cost effectiveness analysis
The purchase cost of wall mounted ultrasonic flowmeter is lower than that of high-precision electromagnetic flowmeter (about 30%~50% lower), and the long-term maintenance cost is lower (no wear and tear on moving parts).
If customers require trade settlement level accuracy (such as ± 0.5%), they can upgrade to high-precision models (with an additional budget of about 20%).
