How to Choose an Alcohol Flow Meter? A Coriolis Selection Case Study for 99.9% Concentration, 80–120 m³/h Operating Conditions
 
Measuring the flow rate of high-concentration alcohol has always been a major challenge in scenarios such as alcohol production, solvent preparation, or pharmaceutical fermentation.
 
Especially for alcohol with a stable concentration of 99.8%–99.9%, which has extremely low conductivity and very low viscosity, conventional electromagnetic, vortex, and turbine flow meters almost always fail.

II. Why must a Coriolis flow meter be used for this type of operation?
 
Many users ask: Can't vortex or rotor flow meters work?
 
Let's take a brief look:
 
Electromagnetic flow meters: require the medium to be conductive; 99.9% alcohol is essentially non-conductive, ❌ unusable.
 
Vortex flow meters: sensitive to low-viscosity, low-density media; prone to pulse loss at low flow rates, ❌ unstable.

Integrated Transmitter ≠ Simple
Alcohol is highly volatile. When installing an integrated transmitter in the field, it's recommended to avoid direct spraying and strong vibration locations, otherwise, long-term zero-point stability will be affected.
