Dosing Acetone Under Vacuum? We Found the Answer
Acetone is one of those fluids that keeps engineers up at night. It's volatile, low in viscosity, and unforgiving when the outlet is under vacuum.
So when a client came to us with this set of requirements, we knew it wouldn't be a simple off‑the‑shelf match.
Flow rate: 50 to 100 mL/min. Displacement: adjustable from 0 to 1100 µL per revolution. Inlet at atmospheric pressure, outlet at low vacuum. Accuracy: half a percent.
And all wetted parts must handle acetone plus strong acids and alkalis.

That's a tall order.
We considered the usual options. But most pumps struggle with vacuum on the discharge side—cavitation, vapor lock, erratic flow. Others can't hold ±0.5% consistently
across a wide adjustment range. And many simply don't survive prolonged contact with aggressive solvents.

The one that checked every box was our WF‑12T‑CU ceramic valve‑less plunger pump.


Why? Three reasons.
First, the materials. Ceramic piston and PTFE wetted parts mean acetone doesn't degrade them. Neither do acids or alkalis. No corrosion, no contamination, no short lifespan.
Second, the valve‑less design. Without check valves or dynamic seals, flow stays smooth and stable even under low vacuum. No pulsing, no cavitation, no surprises.
Third, the flexibility. Operators can dial in any displacement from 0 to 1100 µL per revolution with stepless precision. And they can switch between manual adjustment for R&D
work and fully automatic continuous supply for production—all on the same pump.
